Facebook Mobile Gray Bar at Bottom of Feed
What is the grey bar on the side of any scrollable part of a page?
On facebook, for example, there is a gray bar, that seems to indicate position of scrolling. If you scroll on the friends list another one will appear as soon as scrolling begins. If scrolling through notifications, it will appear there too. This is not limited to FB, but that site seems to have more appearing at any one time. It is only on my desktop, not the laptop, and I believe they updated at the same time. If it is something I can turn off, I would like to. On the attached photo, it can be seen on the far left, on notifications, and on the friends list After several unsuccessful attempts at attaching an image, I have to abandon trying.

That's quite odd. The size of it makes me thing of a tablet (touch screen) feature. Does your desktop have a touch screen?
I see some kind of ad blocking icon on your toolbar. If you temporarily turn that off for FB, does it make any difference?

It is not a touch screen monitor. It has only been happening, as near as I can recall, since the last update, or within the last 2 weeks. I tried running Firefox with all add-ons disabled and starting Firefox in safe mode, but no change.

Seems like something is highlighting certain parts of your page. Was there any other drivers you updated before FF58 update as well?

If there was any updating, it would have been an "automatic". This only affects Firefox. And appears like the shot shows as a bar in any scrollable area of any site. I just chose FB because i could show 3 instances on one shot. It does it on Google search results, Yahoo mail, anything with a scrollable portion. Even on Youtube until going into full screen mode. I checked on Chrome and Edge and it's not there. Thanks for your reply.

Does anything unusual show if you right-click the gray bar and open the Inspector?
You can right-click and select "Inspect Element" to open the builtin Inspector with this element selected.

Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions ("3-bar" menu button or Tools -> Add-ons -> Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem.
- switch to the DEFAULT theme: "3-bar" menu button or Tools -> Add-ons -> Appearance
- do NOT click the "Refresh Firefox" button on the Safe Mode start window

I am familiar with the Page inspector only to the extent that it exists, but am not sure how to use it. I had opened this early in my search for a term with which to do a search. I have run in Safe Mode, and with all add-ons disabled, with no change detectable by me. Thanks to all who responded. The issue has been resolved with a "refresh firefox", which I had been avoiding due to an unpleasant experience where I lost my bookmarks, 100s of rare and hard to find auto parts. Thanks, again.
